One man and his dog

Today I was invited along to the sheepdog trials on the Longshaw estate. The only prior knowledge I had of this sport was from watching the film Babe, though was pretty sure I wasn’t going to be seeing any pigs running around. Aside from that disappointment, it actually looked incredibly difficult, but there certainly looked to be an element of luck with what sheep the farmer would get. Quite a number of entrants had to retire from the competition simply because the flock would insist on running out of sight into the nearby woods, or the time bell would go because one sheep would decide to stand her ground against the dog.
